Clip is a mobile payments platform for emerging markets, with simple and secure payment solutions and technology to facilitate payments and credit and debit card adoption.
The estimation of the market is around 11 million businesses that could potentially use Clip’s payment services, and unlike the U.S. where penetration rates for card payment systems is at roughly 50 percent, in Mexico that number looks more like 9 percent.
FinTech gained great momentum globally with investments into the industry. Clip’s first partner American Express is responsible for 30% of the total payment volume in Mexico, but only has 3 million of the roughly 30 million credit and debit cards in the country, Clip later added Banorte, Banamex and Bancomer and more to its list of partners.
